I came to Cafe Chelsea on a mission: to find the perfect chocolate soufflé. My mom’s a total dessert snob (in the best way), and I couldn’t leave her hanging after hearing this one was the best in the city. Tucked inside the artful Hotel Chelsea, the cafe has that dreamy, European-in-New-York vibe that makes you want to linger. Spoiler: the soufflé was everything. But there’s more to this spot than dessert—here’s the full Aftertaste review.

Name: Cafe Chelsea
Location: Chelsea, NYC
Rating: 8/10
Vibe Check:
Cozy French brasserie meets timeless hotel. Think marble tables and a little bit of old-school charm with modern polish. Ideal for a slow brunch or romantic dessert date.
Perfect For:
Catching up with a friend who appreciates ambiance, or impressing your out-of-town parent with an unbeatable dessert.
What I Ordered:
Steak Frites - $48
Salmon - $39
Chocolate soufflé - $22
Ferrero Rocher Ice Cream - $18
The Aftertaste:
The menu is small, but everything on it is thoughtfully done—and delicious. Sharing the meal with my mom made it even more special. Pro tip: book a reservation if you’re going during peak hours, and whatever you do, don’t leave without ordering dessert. Trust me.
